A LOOK BACK AT 2017

As a part of my New Year’s resolutions, I’ve decided to work a little harder and dive a little deeper into my blog. With that I plan to write more personal posts about my life and the things I do. Aside from an Instagram post here and there, I really only write about fashion on my blog, and with the new year I plan to round out my blog with a little bit more personality. What better way to do so than to share with you a few of my favorite memories from the past year?

A lot of great things happened in 2017, but I think we all breathed the collective sigh of relief on December first when we realized we only had one more month to go before we could close the door on 2017, lock it and then throw that key away. 2017 year has actually been pretty good to me, personally- but the things that have happened around the world put a dark veil over the past 12 months. Despite the continuous stream of awful news, a few good things happened in between. I plan to focus on the positive things that I experienced as I reflect on the last year. With that, I’m sharing my top 3 memories of 2017. If you’re feeling a bit down on what the year has brought, I encourage you to think of a few things that made you smile in the past year. I was feeling pretty down about things, but once I started to thing about the milestones I've hit, big and small, I realized that there is positivity to be found. With that, here's my list of my favorite and most exciting experiences of 2017.

A Trip to Italy
In June of this past year, I took a trip to Italy along with my parents and sister. Because I had never been to Europe, I was especially excited to explore a new country on a continent I'd never been to. Over the course of two weeks, we stayed in Florence and Rome and made day trips to Siena and Venice. I know it's not entirely fair to say that Italy is my favorite country of all time, seeing as I've not visited more than a few around the globe... so I guess I'll just say that the bar is set pretty high for whatever countries I visit next. Aside from the warm weather and beautiful landscapes, we were able to experience the gorgeous duomos, amazing museums, and delicious cafes (where we drank more than enough cappuccinos each morning). I will be forever grateful that I was able to spend an amazing trip with my family exploring some of the most beautiful cities in the world.

New Job
Just after I returned from Italy, I started a new job. Not only is it a job that will help me jump start my career, but it is a job in fashion! When someone reached out to me about the position, I was shocked but of course decided to go for it. It was at a huge company where the competition is high. I thought the chances of being hired were one in a million. So when I got the offer call I was beyond ecstatic. With my new job I've been able to keep living in the city, make new friends, and travel a little bit more. I feel so lucky to be starting out in an industry I'm interested in and working on exciting new innovative projects that the fashion world has never seen before.

Adopting a Dog
I got myself a doggo! I'll admit, I think I was still a little bit too excited about my new job when I decided I needed a dog. I made the decision within a few days and after finding the sweetest, funniest looking Dachshund/Yorkie mix my mom and I took a trip to the Seattle Humane Society to pick him up. I am not one to make quick, rash decisions, in fact a lot of times I take too long to decide on things. So this was a big move on my part. He's proved to be quite the challenge and I'll admit, for the first few weeks I felt like I was way in over my head, but I don't regret my decision one bit. He's just the sweetest little guy and has really made my 2017 better than I thought it was going to be.

As I look back on the year, I feel positive and hopeful that 2018 will be a great year.

  1. I have to admit that I had been thinking that year was a bit of a lemon due to the increasing amounts of greed and callous cruelty running rampant in our government, BUT... at the same time I was not at all eager for the year to be over. I am thinking of listening to Stevie Nicks' song 'Silver Springs' on YouTube because of the lyrics: "Time cast a spell on me..." Time surely has cast a spell on me -it goes by way, way to fast!
It's wonderful that so many good things happened in your life in 2017 and that you traveled where you did! Your trip to Italy looks like it was wonderful!!! I love all four of the photos above - Venice looks beautiful and you look gorgeous! Your hair is beautiful. Your new job sounds great, and your doggy looks cute.
Best wishes for a wonderful year 2018!!!
